Renowned thespian, Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, affectionately known by his stage names Charles Olumo and Agbako, has passed on.
The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) President, Bolaji Amusan (aka Mr. Latin), shared the sorrowful news on Instagram yesterday.
In a heartfelt tribute, Mr. Latin posted: “#TAMPANglobal mourns the loss of veteran actor Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, lovingly referred to as Agbako. Further details regarding his funeral arrangements will be disclosed in due course. Rest in peace, dear father (1923-2024)”.
Fellow Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko also paid his respects, confirming Agbako’s passing in a poignant message: “Farewell, beloved Baba Charles, aka Agbako. Your remarkable life spanned 101 years, leaving an indelible legacy. May your soul rest in eternal peace.”
This year, Agbako celebrated his 101st birthday, marking a century-plus milestone in a lifetime dedicated to the arts.
