Tragedy struck in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Thursday morning as a building collapse claimed the lives of 10 individuals, while seven others sustained injuries.
According to the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, the incident occurred at 2 am in the Jegede Olunloyo area of Ona Ara Local Government. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, with 10 victims recovered from the rubble and seven survivors rescued. The General Manager of the state Fire Services, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed that his team responded promptly after receiving the distress call.
Akinyinka revealed that upon arrival, they found that 10 people had lost their lives instantly. Prior to their arrival, three people had been rescued, and the agency’s personnel managed to rescue four more.
