The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for undergraduate admissions for candidates under 16 to August 2025 ¹. In a letter to vice-chancellors, provosts, and rectors, JAMB permitted the admission of 15-year-old candidates who will turn 16 by August 2025. This decision was made after the board’s policy meeting, where they initially set the minimum age for admission at 16 for the 2024/2025 academic session. However, some institutions will continue to admit students until July 2025, so JAMB has allowed them to consider candidates who will turn 16 by August 2025, ensuring fairness and equity in the admission process.
Additionally, JAMB requested that institutions submit the list of eligible candidates who will be 16 years old between January and August 2025. This request aims to ensure that candidates who will turn 16 by August 2025 are not disadvantaged. Institutions that wish to maintain the initial deadline of December 2024 are free to do so.
