The administration has provided N1 billion in soft loans to support farmers in the state, among other benefits.
Olasunkanmi revealed that over 1,000 farmers have benefited from the 50% tractor subsidy, resulting in the plowing of more than 6,000 acres of land. This initiative is set to continue in February 2025, targeting 16,000 acres for the upcoming farming season.
The revitalization of the Oyo State Seed Coordinating Committee aims to enhance agricultural productivity, ensuring food security and improving farmers’ livelihoods through access to high-quality seeds, expertise, and technology.
The commissioner urged committee members to fulfill their duties, boosting food production and agricultural yields. This expert committee will provide critical information to farmers, facilitated by Extension Officers in rural areas.
“The governor has approved this comprehensive committee to drive seed multiplication, crop cultivation, livestock farming, and other agricultural activities,” he stated. “The goal is to produce certified seeds, inputs, and farm machinery through private sector collaboration.”

Honourable Peter Ojedokun, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, praised Governor Makinde for supporting farmers.
Mr. Adewumi Abbas, Chairman of the All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria, Oyo State chapter, and Chief Akande Moshood, representative of Baale Agbe, also commended the governor for his commitment to farmers’ progress.
