BREAKING: REVERSE FUEL PRICE NOW, TUC TELL TINUBU

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has demanded that the federal government revert fuel prices to their June 2023 levels . This call was made by TUC National President, Festus Osifo, during a press briefing in Abuja. Osifo emphasized the need for the government to provide foreign exchange to the Dangote refinery to stabilize the oil sector.

Nigerians recently faced a sudden increase in fuel prices across the country, prompting condemnation from the Nigeria Labour Congress. Osifo stressed that the TUC seeks not only a reversal but a reduction in fuel prices. He argued that governments worldwide intervene in critical sectors and that Nigeria should not leave its oil sector vulnerable to currency fluctuations.

The TUC emphasized the importance of availability, affordability, and accessibility of fuel for all Nigerians. Osifo proposed that the federal government grant licenses to marketers to lift petrol from the Dangote Refinery. If the refinery cannot meet daily demands, he suggested sourcing refined petrol from other locations

Osifo stated, “We must ensure fuel availability, even if it means supplementing Dangote Refinery’s production until it can meet national demands.” This measure would address the issue of availability, a crucial concern for the TUC.
