The Ogun State Police Command has announced the arrest of Shedrack Olawale Olayemi, a 33-year-old man who has been on their wanted list for armed robbery and rape. Olayemi was caught on Monday after an intelligence report revealed his presence in the university area in Ijagun, where he had been trying to hide his identity.
The police stated that Olayemi was the prime suspect in an armed robbery and rape incident that occurred on July 21, 2024, at the female Royal Villa accommodation area in Tai Solarin University of Education Ijagun.
He and his accomplices allegedly robbed female students of their valuables, including laptops, iPhones, sports wristwatches, and cash, and also raped one of the students.
Olayemi has been taken to the Igbeba Police Station for interrogation and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, has also directed that Olayemi’s accomplices be arrested and has appealed to the Ijagun community to provide credible information to assist in tracking down other members of the criminal gang. NABBED
