The University of Ilorin has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative, the Innovative Skills and Entrepreneurial Excellence Program, aimed at empowering students with market-driven skills to tackle graduate unemployment.
This pioneering program was officially launched on campus last Friday, in collaboration with industry trailblazers and creative professionals who will share their expertise with enrolled students, enhancing their academic studies with practical vocational training.
According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. AbdulWahab Egbewole (SAN), the program’s primary objective is to equip students with specialized skills that can be acquired during their free time, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application.
“The prevailing issue with graduates from most institutions is the lack of essential skills, and this program addresses that shortfall,” Egbewole noted. “By partnering with industry leaders, we’re enriching our students’ educational experience and preparing them for the ever-evolving job market.” While participation is voluntary, students will receive certification upon completing the training.
Egbewole also emphasized that students from other institutions are welcome to join the program, with the entire certification process being conducted online for added convenience.
